From "The New York Times," this is "The Daily."
I’m Natalie Kitroeff.
This week’s protests and clashes in California
are the biggest flareup yet
over Trump’s immigration enforcement.
They follow months of escalating ICE raids and rhetoric,
as the administration struggles to fulfill the president’s big promises for mass deportation.
Today, my colleague, Hamed Aleaziz,
goes inside one ICE operation and explains
why the tensions over Trump’s aggressive approach may only get worse in the months to come.
It’s Wednesday, June 11.
Hamed, welcome back to the show.
We’ve now seen five days of protests in LA over these ICE raids.
First,
the administration sent in the National Guard,
then hundreds of Marines.
All of this comes after months of increasing enforcement across the country,
ICE showing up in full force to find and detain immigrants in various cities.
As one of the people who’s been leading our coverage of this,
what do you feel like is the story of what we’re seeing here?
