This afternoon, Trump's shock decision to deploy the National Guard against LA protesters.
It was the middle of the afternoon on Friday in downtown Los Angeles when a few dozen protesters assembled outside a clothing factory.
They'd heard that law enforcement agents were inside carrying out an immigration raid,
part of Trump's plans for sweeping mass deportations.
Riot police from the LAPD arrived,
but soon other protests were breaking out across the city.
By Saturday,
the crowds had grown and tensions between police and protesters were starting to flare.
We continue to see these Border Patrol agents firing what appears to be flashbangs or different tear gas canisters.
Then on Saturday evening,
Donald Trump made a decision that sent shockwaves through US politics.
He ordered 2,000 National Guard troops to the streets of L.A.,
bypassing California's Governor Gavin Newsom and using rare and unprecedented federal power.
I said, look, you've got to take care of this, otherwise I'm sending in the troops.
That's what we did.
He's lit the proverbial match.
He's putting fuel on this fire.
Democracy is in the balance.
