BBC Sounds music radio podcasts.
Hello.
Thank you for your messages about times you have been the backdrop to politicians speeches.
We had a message from newscaster Richard.
Hi Adam and team.
It's Richard from Newcastle.
I love the show and have been a listener from way back in the Brexit cast days.
I couldn't help but laugh when you mentioned on the recent pod about people being close to politicians when they're being making speeches.
I was in the marquee at Port of Tyne when Boris Johnson made his speech at the CBI conference in 2021.
This was the speech when his pages weren't stable together and he lost his place.
He ended up filling time talking about pepper pig.
It was so cringe worthy that I couldn't help feeling embarrassed for him.
Just goes to show how something as small and inexpensive as a stable can have such a big impact.
Keep up the great work.
Thanks.
Richard, thank you for your message and for your recollection.
I remember watching that speech on TV,
because I was working in our Westminster newsroom that day,
and I could see...
that Boris Johnson was losing his place and his pages were getting all muddled up.
