Hello and welcome to NewsHour live from the BBC World Service in London.
I'm Rebecca Kesby.
So we begin in Washington DC,
where today it was the German Chancellor Frederick Merz's turn to meet President Trump in the Oval Office.
These meetings, with world leaders at the White House,
It can end up being quite dramatic, but today the drama happened after the Met's meeting,
as President Trump's formerly close friend and adviser, tech billionaire Elon Musk,
responded with a series of explosive posts on social media to comments Mr Trump gave to reporters in the Oval Office.
The two men have been disagreeing most amicably for weeks now over at President Trump's new tax legislation,
the so-called Big Beautiful Bill.
President Trump was asked about that today by reporters.
And it was these comments that seems to have sent Elon Musk into a rage.
Elon and I had a great relationship.
I don't know if we're well anymore.
I was surprised because he said wonderful things about me.
You couldn't have nicer said the best thing.
But I'm very disappointed
because Elon knew the inner workings of this bill better than almost anybody sitting here.
And if you saw the statements he made about me,
which I'm sure you can get very easily, it's very fresh on tape.
