1 小时 27 分钟Welcome to the LSE events podcast by the London School of Economics and Political Science.
Get ready to hear from some of the most influential international figures in the social sciences.
OK, good evening, everybody.
Hopefully you can hear me all.
My name is Emma McCoy.
I am the vice president and pro vice chancellor for education at the London School of Economics and Political Science.
I am very pleased to join both our online audience and our live audience here in the Sheikh Zayed Theatre for this event hosted by the Data Science Institute and the Department of Mathematics.
So the prominence of computational resources and more recently the rapid growth of access to generative AI tools has exposed major deficiencies in traditional education.
Not only...
in that it has raised the urgent need to harness technology to improve the pedagogical process,
but also how the subject matter has diverged from what is needed to solve real-world problems.
Tonight's event will explore how we can leverage AI to reshape maths education and whether we are ready to dismantle outdated methods and embrace an AI-driven educational revolution.
To address these questions, we welcome Conrad Wolfram,
physicist, mathematician, technologist and strategic director,
European co-founder and CEO of Wolfram Research,
the company behind Mathematica, Wolfram Language and Wolfram Alpha.
For over three decades,
Conrad has been a leading voice in reimagining how we teach and use maths in the digital age.
Distilled in his book, Published in 2020, I believe,
kind of pre the launch of ChatGPT and so on.
