Earlier this month, Taylor Swift played the final show of her Eras tour. More than 10 million people attended one of 149 shows in the tour, which grossed more than $2bn. In this episode, first released in August 2024, “Money Talks” host Alice Fulwood travelled to Nashville, where Swift's career began, to find out how she built the biggest brand in music.  Hosts: Alice Fulwood, Tom Lee-Devlin and Mike Bird. Guests: Tim Ingham, the founder of Music Business Worldwide; Kristelia García of the Georgetown University Law Center; Michael Schill of the Darden School of Business; and Bill Werde, former editorial director of Billboard magazine, current director of the Bandier Program at Syracuse University and author of the “Full Rate No Cap” newsletter. 单集文稿 ...

  • Hello, it's Mike here.

  • We are off this week, but for those of you craving your weekly Money Talks fix,

  • I wanted to share not one, but two of my favourite shows of this year.

  • It is, of course, the Taylor Swift double bill,

  • when Alice found out how the superstar built the biggest brand in music.

  • We'll be back next week.

  • Until then, enjoy this throwback to this year's cruel summer.

  • Oh, I think it's over here.

  • There is another Swifty, clearly.

  • I think there's like, in fact, like an informal line.

  • Last week, I found myself in Nashville,

  • in the middle of a leafy park with my producer Stevie Hertz, lining up to see a bench.

  • It's a very nice spot, lots of flowers and irises.

  • It's a brown wooden bench and there's a wheat plaque.

  • which says, for Taylor Swift, a bench for you to read on at Centennial Park,

  • which is a reference to one of her songs.

  • We've come to Nashville because we are coming to the birthplace,

  • I guess, of Taylor Swift as a musical artist.

  • She moved with her family to Nashville to try and get her.

  • musician singing career kick-started when she was just a teenager.
