You're listening to the documentary from the BBC World Service.
I'm Sancha Berg, and this is The Three Babies Mystery.
Honestly, it's very hard to describe.
Initially, when I got the call from my mom,
I immediately felt that something was off because, you know, she's right outside.
And as soon as she picked up, she said,
like, I need you guys to come down here right away.
And she said, I think I found a baby.
My name is Akviles Valeuskaite.
Akviles' mother, Rima, is speaking to us on the phone in Lithuanian.
Together they remember a freezing cold night in January 2019 in East London.
She said there was not, like, not a soul around.
gets you to the bone so we lived on a short road we lived in the very first house and just a 30 second walk outside our front door was this little playground park where we would take our little dog out
for walks usually in the evenings when they were trying to leave,
and my mom kept calling my dog over, and he usually listens very well,
but this one instance, he would not listen.
He kept circling the bag, a bag for life, Sainsbury's bag.
Yeah, I remember very well it was a Sainsbury's bag.
So she kept calling him over, and she went up to him to try to put the leash on him,
and that was when the baby started crying for the first time.
