Hello.
I've just got home after quite a busy day in the newscast studio.
So when we recorded most of today's episode on Thursday afternoon at about half past four,
we were focusing on the news from America where a court had ruled that Donald Trump's import...
tariffs, which he announced on the 2nd of April, so-called Liberation Day,
were actually unlawful
because he didn't have the authority as president to actually levy them.
So we spoke about that.
And then just after 5pm,
we got an update from Merseyside Police and the Crown Prosecution Service that they were charging the man that they arrested on Monday in connection with the car which collided with a lot of the supporters of Liverpool FC
while they were attending the victory parade.
So then we recorded an item about that.
And then just as I got home at nearly nine o'clock on Thursday evening,
we got the news that an appeal court in America had reinstated Donald Trump's.
tariffs.
But the discussion that I had with Justin and Katrina and Julian Tett from the FT,
the background to that and some of the other issues affecting American politics and the American economy still stands.
So what you hear now is the episode of Newscast
as we recorded it before we got that news from the appeal court in the United States.
