单集文稿 ...

  • Hello and welcome to the English Like a Native podcast.

  • My name is Anna and you're listening to week 21,

  • day 5 of your English 5 a day, the second season.

  • This series is indulging your desire to dip daily into the English language so that slowly but surely you become more confident and more like yourself.

  • when communicating in English.

  • So today it's Friday and we are going to bring together all of the vocabulary that we've heard this week in one big story.

  • Now remember, you can access the database of all the vocabulary from the entire series,

  • season one and two, via our database.

  • I'll leave a link for you in the show notes.

  • But now, settle down.

  • Make yourself comfortable and let's go into Storytime.

  • Last weekend, I decided to take my electric bike on the train into the countryside.

  • It was the first time I'd attempted such a journey with my e-bike and I was travelling to visit my friend who lives in a small village.

  • Unusually for someone living in the countryside, she doesn't own a car.

  • This might sound strange until you learn that my friend actually lives in a van with her husband.

  • They typically park it in this village during the summer months, making it their home.

  • She doesn't like driving the van around much.

  • It's expensive to run and difficult to park.

  • She doesn't see it as a vehicle per se.

  • It's her home.
