Hello and welcome to NewsHour from the BBC World Service.
We're coming to you live from London.
I'm Lise Doucette.
The news from Gaza is always grim.
But the latest reports about the fate of one family are... horrifying.
During Israeli airstrikes last night, the home of two doctors and their 10 children,
the al-Najjar family, was hit.
Nine of the 10 children were killed.
Only 11-year-old Adam survived, but with serious injuries.
His father, Hamid, was also critically injured.
And his mother, Alan Al-Najjar, was at work at the Nasser Hospital at this most terrible of times.
We heard more about what happened from the children's uncle, Ali Yahya Al-Najjar.
He spoke to the BBC's Arabic service.
A missile from an F-16 struck my brother's home.
The first rocket landed.
but didn't explode.
The second one detonated with a deafening blast.
At the time, I was displaced and far from our home.
When I heard about the strike on Kizan al-Najjar, I called my cousin.
He urged me to come immediately to help extract the bodies of my nieces and nephews from beneath the rubble.
