  • the global business world has once again been turned on its head by an announcement from President Trump.

  • In what seemed a pretty fired up start to his Friday,

  • the President first took aim at one of the world's biggest companies, the American tech firm Apple.

  • I have long ago informed Tim Cook of Apple, the president said,

  • that I expect their iPhones that will be sold in the United States of America will be manufactured and built in the United States,

  • not India or any place else, he had written on his true social site.

  • A few minutes later, it was one of the world's biggest trade blocs in his crosshairs,

  • the European Union, as the president announced 50% tariffs potentially from June 1st on all.

  • European imports to the United States,

  • after declaring his frustration that talks on a deal between the two sides had gone nowhere.
