  • I'm Georgina Godwin.

  • My guest today is a British broadcaster and journalist.

  • Growing up in Surrey, he graduated with a degree in English from Durham University.

  • His BBC career began in 1987 as a newsreader and researcher,

  • before becoming a regular reporter on the Today programme on Radio 4.

  • He went on to become a political correspondent covering the 1997 British general election,

  • Africa correspondent, co-presenter of Newsnight and presenter of Panorama.

  • He's now hosting a BBC Radio 2 lunchtime show and a weekday current affairs show on Channel 5.

  • Somehow, he's also found time to be a successful author.

  • He's written seven books.

  • His latest is a crime thriller, Murder on Line One.

  • It follows an ex-radio presenter solving the death of one of his dedicated listeners.
