I'm Georgina Godwin.
My guest today is a British broadcaster and journalist.
Growing up in Surrey, he graduated with a degree in English from Durham University.
His BBC career began in 1987 as a newsreader and researcher,
before becoming a regular reporter on the Today programme on Radio 4.
He went on to become a political correspondent covering the 1997 British general election,
Africa correspondent, co-presenter of Newsnight and presenter of Panorama.
He's now hosting a BBC Radio 2 lunchtime show and a weekday current affairs show on Channel 5.
Somehow, he's also found time to be a successful author.
He's written seven books.
His latest is a crime thriller, Murder on Line One.
It follows an ex-radio presenter solving the death of one of his dedicated listeners.
Jeremy Vine, welcome to Meet the Writers.
Thank you, Georgina, thank you.
It's so great to have you here because about 15 years ago I was on your show.
Well, you were,
but we were discussing what you were doing and it was a thing where we'd brought on...
the Zimbabwean information minister.
And every time he told a lie, you rang a bell.
