Hello and welcome to the programme.
This is NewsHour from the BBC World Service.
We're coming to you live from London.
I'm Paul Henley.
The civil defence agency in Gaza says the Israeli military has killed nearly 100 people in the past 12 hours in another intense wave of strikes in the north of the territory.
The focus of the offensive has been in the city of Beit Lahir and on the Jabalia refugee camp,
and Palestinians say Israeli forces have attacked by land, sea and air.
Ismail Abu Aitar is a Palestinian man in Beit Lahir.
He described what happened to him.
We were sleeping and the houses were full of children,
women and displaced people whose homes had been destroyed and now living in tents.
Suddenly, at 1.30am and without prior warning, They bombed the house.
Many children and women were killed and their bodies scattered in the streets.
Tala Muhraba is an 18-year-old high school student.
She spoke to the BBC's James Copnell early this morning from close to where the strikes were happening.
Jabalia is a completely destroyed area and we can still hear the sound of explosions and the people here live in terror.
We don't know where to go to save our lives.
You say you don't know where to go.
What are your options?
There is no option, really.
