Hello, this is Andrew Peach.
Welcome to the documentary from the BBC World Service.
In BBC OS Conversations, we bring people together to share their experiences.
And this time, our conversations are on living in Kashmir.
The disputed region borders India, Pakistan and China, with areas controlled by the three countries.
The latest violence followed an attack by militants in Indian-administered Kashmir last month that killed 26 tourists.
India claimed Pakistan was behind the incident, a charge denied by Islamabad.
Two weeks later,
India launched a series of airstrikes against targets in Pakistan and Pakistan administered Kashmir.
This prompted days of cross-border military action in which dozens of people died.
In a moment,
we'll play you our conversation between two people living either side of the de facto border,
known as the Line of Control.
And later, we'll hear from three women who all grew up in Kashmir but now live abroad.
Really stunningly beautiful place.
It's like shockingly beautiful.
