单集文稿 ...

  • Hello and welcome to the English Like a Native podcast.

  • My name is Anna and you're listening to week 19, day 5 of Your English 5 a Day, the second season.

  • This series is all about helping you to build that daily habit of dipping into the English language so that you can,

  • over time, build a wide vocabulary.

  • and start to feel more like yourself when communicating in English.

  • We release a new episode every day of the working week from Monday to Friday with some bonus episodes at the weekend.

  • If you want to get more out of your learning experience, then you can by becoming a Plus member.

  • I'll leave a link in the show notes for you to find out more about what's on offer as a Plus member.

  • But now it's time.

  • to bring together all of the vocabulary we've learned this week into one big story.

  • So sit back, relax and enjoy.

  • Socks wasn't himself.

  • In fact, he had been off colour for a few days.

  • Usually, he was full of energy.

  • begging to go out, to prance around the garden chasing butterflies and pounce on leaves,

  • batting pens off the table just to annoy me and causing all sorts of trouble around the house in his lovable,

  • mischievous way.

  • But for the last two days, he'd been quiet, too quiet.

  • He had stopped playing, was right off his food.

  • and spent most of his time curled up in a sad little ball.
