Welcome to the A to Z English podcast.
My name is Jack and I'm here with my co-host Xochitl.
And today we are going to talk about three idioms.
Xochitl, I have three idioms that are related to missing out on something.
And so, yeah, so I thought maybe...
I could tell you the idiom and then maybe you could give like a definition for the students.
Okay.
Sounds good.
Okay.
The first one is miss the boat.
And what does it mean?
What does it mean to miss the boat?
Yeah.
You, you got there too late or did something too late.
Like I, a good example would be that if.
One of your students comes in and is like, hey, professor, I want to turn in this assignment.
And it's like a monthly.
You're going to be like you missed the boat on that one.
Yes, that's a great example right there.
I'm just looking at the dictionary definition is to miss an opportunity.
