Welcome to the documentary in the studio from the BBC World Service.
I'm Andrea Kidd and I'm with the Serbian singer-songwriter Luke Black.
Luke represented his country in 2023 at the Eurovision Song Contest,
the world's largest live music event, with his song Samamisa Spava, Sleep Forever.
I just want to sleep forever.
I like it better when I dream.
His set and choreography on that global stage,
with its special effect giant fighting robot, wowed audiences of over 160 million.
and were inspired by the video games he loves.
Hello?
Game over.
Luke has continued to explore this theme since Eurovision.
It informed his debut album, Chainsaws in Paradise,
and now he's returning to it again, but this time inverting it,
taking on the role of the robot and looking at the world through the eyes of the video game villain to create a new,
darker collection of songs.
He's also given himself the challenge of writing it music first.
