I'm Georgina Godwin.
For decades, the world has witnessed the destruction wrought by war in Gaza.
At the time of this recording, a ceasefire deal has yet to be reached.
Hamas has received an Israeli proposal involving the release of 10 hostages in exchange for 120 Palestinian prisoners and 1,100 detainees held without charge
since October 2023.
My guest today is a Palestinian journalist from Gaza.
In the summer of 2014,
his life was irrevocably changed when an Israeli airstrike killed his older brother.
In the midst of grief,
he was encouraged by a fellow journalist to honour his brother's memory through writing.
That article resonated globally.
What began as a personal tribute grew into something much larger,
a platform that would connect young Palestinian voices with readers around the world.
We Are Not Numbers trains aspiring Palestinian writers and journalists in storytelling,
language, editing and reaching English-speaking audiences.
Their new book is a poignant collection of first-hand accounts from Gaza's youth,
stories of resilience, identity and everyday life under the shadow of conflict.
Ahmed Alnouk, welcome to Meet the Writers.
Thank you very much for having me.
