Paddy, as is often the way at weekends, we find out huge news, or should we say huge news,
on Truth Social when the American president gets his fast fingers typing and he posted on Truth Social,
after a long night of talks mediated by the United States,
I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to,
and in caps, full and immediate ceasefire.
It's a big diplomatic win for Donald Trump.
And India and Pakistan will both claim part success by their actions.
But it is a very, very dangerous situation.
And our foreign editor, Jeremy Bowen, was going to go there.

You must be quite good at packing.
No, I'm useless for someone who's been a foreign correspondent for 40 years.
But anyway, it was all not to be because my particular trip has been cancelled.

thankfully, to a ceasefire, which I'm sure everybody's breathing a big sigh of relief about,
though, as one senior source said to me,
you know, make sure you don't stay too far from your luggage because you never know,
there's an awful lot of distrust on both sides.
Well, that could be a metaphor for the life of a foreign correspondent.
