单集简介 ...

Have you ever wondered about sign language, how it works and if it is similar to other languages like English? In this conversation I speak to Siobhan Dodd who is a sign language interpreter between English and BSL (British Sign Language). Siobhan is an enthusiastic and entertaining guest and we have a great chat about the nature of sign language, the challenges & opportunities faced by the deaf community today, and some of Siobhan's memorable interpreting experiences, such as working at the Glastonbury music festival. 📄 PDF Transcript 👉 https://teacherluke.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/934.-Sign-Language-is-Fascinating-with-Siobhan-Dodd.pdf 🔗 Episode page 👉 https://teacherluke.co.uk/2025/05/06/934-sign-language-is-fascinating-with-siobhan-dodd 🏆 LEP Premium 👉 https://lep.supercast.com 📸 Siobhan on Instagram 👉 https://www.instagram.com/unclesiobhan/ 🎧 Siobhan's Podcast (The Following Through Podcast) 👉 https://pod.link/1797539101

单集文稿 ...

  • Hello listeners, welcome back to Luke's English Podcast.

  • How are you doing today?

  • I hope you're doing fine.

  • It is a grey and rainy and wet day here in my part of the world.

  • horrible conditions,

  • but actually perfect conditions

  • for sitting here and recording another episode of this podcast for learners of English.

  • And yes, that is the idea for this podcast, which you probably have realised by now.

  • The main aim here is to give you plenty of things to listen to,

  • to help you do loads of listening in English.

  • And I want to let you listen to a variety of things.

  • Sometimes it's me talking on my own.

  • Sometimes it's me talking with guests.

  • It's very important that you listen to a range of different voices,

  • different people, native speakers, non-native speakers, people using English.

  • There's a big variety of English in the world.

  • It's not just native speakers.

  • You know, millions of people all around the world use English as the international language.

  • So it's really important that you get to hear lots of different voices speaking English in their own way.

  • The more you're exposed to, the better, I think.
