Hello and welcome to NewsHour from the BBC World Service.
We're coming to you live from London.
I'm James Menendez.
And we're going to begin today in Israel,
where the government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is stepping up military action against its enemies across the region,
raising tensions once again.
In the past few days,
the Israeli military has been carrying out airstrikes against Hezbollah in Lebanon and what it called extremists in Syria.
And today,
the IDF confirmed it was drawing up plans to widen operations against Hamas in Gaza with the call-up of tens of thousands of reservists.
It's also promising to confront the...
Houthis in Yemen following a missile strike on Bangurian Airport in Tel Aviv.
That hit the outer perimeter of the airport, injuring six people.
This is what Benjamin Netanyahu had to say a little earlier.
We are operating against them.
We operated in the past.
We will operate in the future.
I can't list all the things.
The United States also operates against them in coordination with us.
It's not bang, bang and we're done, but there will be bangs.
