  • Hello.

  • We've had the first big departure from the Trump administration.

  • The National Security Advisor, Mike Waltz, has left the White House.

  • And now you might know him

  • because he was the person that set up the signal chat that also included the editor of The Atlantic magazine.

  • and where the Defence Secretary, Pete Hegseth,

  • shared some quite sensitive details about military operations against the Houthis in Yemen.

  • Now, his deputy, the Principal Deputy National Security Advisor, Alex Wong,

  • is also reported to be leaving the administration as well,

  • which is interesting because I interviewed Alex Wong on Newsnight on Wednesday night.

  • as part of the coverage of Trump's 100 days in office.

  • So it looks like that was Alex Wong's last interview.

  • And I did ask him about the signal chat thing and he was pretty unrepentant about it.

  • But the thing that really stuck out to people watching Newsnight was this kind of conversational tick that he had of using my name in every single answer.

  • And to just prove to you what that was like,

  • we've now done a super cut of every time he said my name.

  • in that interview, which wasn't even that long.

  • And it turns out his remaining time was about 12 hours.

  • So that's Alex Wong and Mike Waltz,

  • the deputy and the national security advisor who have left the Trump administration.
