the listening resource for intermediate to advanced level English learners.
My name is Anna.
I have a cup of tea in hand and you are listening to The Sunday Cupper,
a little series that sees me sitting here without a script, without a firm plan.
Just chit-chatting away so that you can get a little dose of off-the-cuff English chat.
So, I want to talk to you today about my pussycat.
My poor pussycat.
Now, I have two cats, but today I'm telling you about Socks.
Why?
Because Socks is currently in the veterinary hospital.
So he was admitted today and will spend the night in hospital and hopefully he will come back tomorrow.
And the reason he was admitted is because he's been quite unwell.
We don't really know what's wrong with him.
We suspect he may have eaten something that he shouldn't have.
And I'm quite worried, if I'm honest.
It's the second time he's been hospitalised and he's not even two.
Now, cats are a funny thing.
They can be the most wonderful pets,
a lovely companion to curl up on your lap and make you feel loved.
