单集简介 ...

After a career spanning almost six decades, US fashion icon Norma Kamali is still reinventing herself. After immersing herself in the London fashion scene in the 1960s and establishing a New York boutique at the end of the decade, Kamali quickly rose to prominence. Her designs could be found on the star-studded dance floors of Studio 54, on an iconic 1976 Farrah Fawcett poster and on Whitney Houston’s first album cover. She joins Monocle’s Emma Nelson to tell us about her approach to design, her dedication to wellness and how Donald Trump’s tariffs are affecting her business. • I've disrupted myself and my company so many times.

  • We are in the most disruptive time in my lifetime and the most exciting too.

  • Every woman will own something in her wardrobe by or influenced by the subject of today's big interview.

  • Whether it's a jacket with shoulder pads, a drawstring swimsuit or even a pair of sweatpants, such is her reach.

  • You can find her work in the Metropolitan Museum of Art or the cover of Whitney Houston's first album.

  • I will age with power and purpose and influence change because I know my purpose.

  • So to talk to us about a life of glamour, parties and wellness,

  • I'm Emma Nelson and I'm joined by Norma Kamali for The Big Interview.

  • I'm in London on a beautiful day.

  • Great, thank you.

  • Let's take you from London right back to where you were born, New York City.

  • Tell us about your childhood and your parents, most notably your mother who you have said was born in the wrong period.

  • She wasn't able to take charge of her own life in the way that probably you and I were able to,
