Hello and welcome to the English Like a Native Podcast.
My name is Anna and you're listening to Week 15, Day 3 of Your English Fiver Day.
The second season.
In this series, we are expanding your active vocabulary by introducing lots of new vocabulary on a regular basis.
However, on a Wednesday, we shall be reviewing some of the vocabulary that we tackled a long,
long time ago, possibly even before you were listening to this podcast.
So, Wednesday Review Day, let's have a listen to today's snapshot.
Jerome was in a dilemma.
Should he stay at university and accomplish everything he had originally planned,
or take this new opportunity to travel with the exquisite young woman he had fallen in love with?
It was inevitable.
He loved her too deeply to let her go, so he decided to follow his heart and leave uni.
I will catch up with my studies eventually, he thought.
Okay, so that's our snapshot.
Now we shall dive into the vocabulary starting with our first verb, which is accomplish.
To accomplish something is to successfully complete a task or a goal.
So you could say the student hoped to complete his coursework by the end of the week,
and by the end of the week, he will have accomplished his goal.
The pilots accomplished several record-breaking flights across the Alps.
Okay, so to accomplish is to successfully achieve something, complete something.
