The United States and Iran are set to hold talks today in Oman as the Trump administration seeks to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.
President Trump has said he wants to avoid endless conflict in the Middle East,
and a deal with Tehran would ease tensions.
The State Department has started implementing the Trump administration's executive order,
aimed at rooting out what it calls anti-Christian bias.
NPR's Jason DeRose says it involves asking current employees to report on instances that took place during the Biden administration.
The executive order established a government-wide task force to identify what it calls unlawful policies,
practices, and conduct that infringe on religious freedom.
The internal State Department announcement lists a number of examples,
including mistreatment for requesting religious accommodation,
including exemption from mandatory vaccines, mistreatment for refusing to participate in activities quote,
hostile to one's religious beliefs, including practices related to preferred personal pronouns,
and mistreatment for opposing the display of flags or banners due to one's religious beliefs.
Some religious conservatives had objected to Biden-era displays of pride flags at embassies.
