17 分钟Hello and welcome to the English Likernated podcast.
My name is Anna and you're listening to week 14, day three of your English Fiver Day, the second season.
This is the series that is dedicated to giving you a healthy daily dose of English vocabulary so
that you can slowly but surely start to feel more like yourself when communicating in English.
So let's begin as we always do with today's snapshot.
After hours of negotiation,
Beatrix used her skills to persuade the client that cooperation would lead to mutual benefit for both companies.
Through careful give and take,
they worked through each point of disagreement until they reached a consensus on all major issues.
The final contract represented a perfect win-win situation where both companies gained valuable advantages
while making reasonable compromises.
Let's now deep dive into some of the vocabulary you just heard, starting with the verb persuade.
Pursuade.
We spell this P-E-R-S-U-A-D-E.
Pursuade.
To persuade someone.
This means to convince someone to do or believe something through reasoning or argument.
So through your reasoning, you convince them to believe in something or you convince them to do something.
For example, this morning my son was distracted when it was breakfast time.
He wanted to play with his toys so I had to persuade him to eat his breakfast so that we could get to school on time.
