17 分钟About three years ago, I heard that Megan, Duchess of Sussex,
would be partnering with Netflix to host a cooking and lifestyle show.
I knew that the question of whether or not she could cook would be really important to New York Times food readers.
So I started calling her people, and after years of asking,
they eventually decided to let me in and become the first journalist ever to enter their kitchen.
I'm Julia Moskin.
I'm a reporter for the New York Times food section,
and this interview with Megan was one of the hardest to get in my career.
When I drove up to the house, Megan was standing in the doorway to welcome me.
There was no bodyguard, nobody with a weapon.
She was just barefoot, as she often is on the show.
Everything seemed pretty casual.
I was expecting the visit to be very carefully curated.
I assumed that Megan would be there with ingredients laid out
that I probably wouldn't see any other member of her family.
In fact, her mother was there having breakfast.
Harry came by when Megan was showing me the strawberry patch.
He was wearing Birkenstocks and jeans and a t-shirt and just looked like a regular California dad.
The house, of course, is big and beautiful.
The kitchen seemed very functional.
