That's the problem with being a white person who speaks Mandarin is
that I can't show off because everyone just thinks I'm making random noises.
If I go, I don't even know, I'll wash my tongue and everyone's like, what is he saying?
I don't know.
Yeah.
If I speak French on stage, everyone knows enough French to be like, oh yeah, that's French.
That sounds fairly good.
If I just come out on stage and speak Mandarin, people are like, oh, I don't know.
Yeah.
Me and my dad were having an argument about something and then he was like, this is why your career isn't going better.
And genuinely just came out of nowhere and he was like,
I was listening to Radio 4 the other day and why aren't you on it?
And I was like, and it was just, he was literally like throwing all of my professional insecurities in my face.
Oh my gosh.
And then the best thing about it was then the next day to apologize,
my dad called me up and he was like, oh, I'm sorry about last night.
