  • Hello and welcome to the English Like A Native Podcast.

  • My name is Anna and you are listening to week 13, day 5 of your English Five A Day.

  • The second season!

  • This is the series that gives you a healthy daily dose of English vocabulary so

  • that you can slowly but surely feel more like yourself when communicating in English.

  • Now today I'm going to try something a little bit different and I would love to hear what you think about it.

  • This actually comes from a suggestion made by a listener about doing more to recap what we've been covering.

  • I understand that sometimes all these new words and phrases can feel a little overwhelming.

  • So I thought I would indulge my love of story time and use today to recap all of the vocabulary that we've covered so far in week 13 within a story.

  • So I'm not going to re-list 20 items of vocabulary.

  • Instead I'm just going to tell you a story that includes those 20 items.

  • As always

  • if you are a plus member the transcript will be available to you plus there will be comprehension questions for you to test your knowledge and you can always use our podcast plus assistant to ask questions and receive your answers.

  • I will leave a link to plus membership down in the show notes.

  • Now make yourself comfortable as we go into story time.

  • The Anniversary The sound of delicate silverware striking crystal glass echoed through the restaurant as Alexander prepared to deliver his toast.

  • His fingers tightened around the stem of his glass, willing the slight tremor to still.

  • First impressions count but so do second, third and all the moments in between.

  • His one year anniversary with Rebecca deserved perfect words, not the jumble currently racing through his mind.

  • To Rebecca he began lifting his glass.
