17 分钟Xavier Derusso is a conservative activist and influencer with PragerU,
the right wing advocacy organization.
He lives in Los Angeles making videos,
wading into the culture wars and discussing the current events of the day.
So let me just give y'all a little rundown on how bad the DOE is and how we went from being ranked number one in education in 1979 when the Department of Education became this federal institution,
versus nowadays, where we can barely maintain our spot in the top 30.
So if you don't know what the Department of Education's entire purpose is, he's.
A striking figure in the conservative movement.
A 28 year old black man with bleached blond hair,
he has a growing audience of people, even in liberal California.
These are people he calls the Beverly Hills conservatives.
People who want to be healthy, attractive, successful and have limited government.
My name is Kellen Browning and I'm a politics reporter for the New York Times based in San Francisco.
I was intrigued by Derusso's story and wanted to write an article about him,
which I'm going to read to you in a moment.
I'd met him at one of his favorite hangout spots in Los Angeles, the upscale grocery chain Erawan.
When I met him, he was wearing a sweatshirt that said Free our Hostages,
a reference to the Israeli hostages still held captive in Gaza.
We sat down to get smoothies and he explained to me his process for making these kinds of videos.
I write these myself and these are my own words and my own thoughts.
