Hey there.
This is Myra.
Now, over the years, we've heard about so many solutions here on People Fixing the world,
from ways to reduce gun violence to eating invasive species,
and even making an island from landfill.
Today, however,
I want to draw your attention to an idea that I really like
that we heard back in 2023 on how building a clinic can help to save a forest.
People Fixing.
People Fixing the World hello and welcome to People Fixing the World from the BBC World Service.
With me, Mayra Anubi.
On this program,
I find out about people who've come up with great solutions to some of the many problems we face today.
And sometimes we need to be incentivized to change and do things that can make the world a better place.
So today we'll find out about a special clinic that's motivating people to stop cutting down trees in the rainforest.
Forests are really important for people, animals, and for the fight against climate change.
But According to the UN, the world has lost 420 million hectares of forests since 1990.
Now, to give you an idea, that's an area roughly the size of India.
Cutting down trees or deforestation can cause lots of problems.
So for starters, fewer trees means less food and less shelter for animals.
