Hello my lovely listeners and welcome to the English
likenative podcast, the listening resource for intermediate to advanced level English learners.
My name is Anna and I want to welcome you to a very special Christmas episode of this podcast.
So whether you celebrate Christmas or not, this time of year is often a time for
connection, reflection and joy and I want to take a moment to say thank you for learning
with me and for being a part of this wonderful community.
Now every day in the last few weeks
when I drive or walk around the local streets I take time with my children to look for the pretty
lights.
So the phrase pretty lights is something that's constantly echoed in the back of the car.
Pretty lights, pretty lights as the children spot more and more pretty lights being displayed on
people's houses around their doorways in their windows on their fences and on their trees and in
their gardens.
It started at the beginning of December.
In fact there may have been a few
pretty lights being displayed at the end of November and as we get closer and closer to the big day
we see more and more of these decorations going up and so you can really feel the spirit of
Christmas growing within our local community and I feel like over the years more and more houses
have started to take part in this festive display as well and there are some streets that are
renowned that are famous in the local area for their huge displays.
