Hello and welcome to NewsHour with me, Noola McGovern in Washington, D.C.
tim Franks is in London.
It is a freezing, beautiful, clear morning in this city where in just a few hours time, Donald Trump will become the 47th president of the United States.
The events of the day, as you will have heard, are now indoors in the rotunda of the U.S.
capitol building, that iconic dome that is a landmark of Washington politics and home to the US Congress and Senate.
The temperature of minus 4 Celsius, that's approximately 24 degrees Fahrenheit, means that well wishers won't see President Elect Trump in the traditional format on the steps of the Capitol.
But despite the weather and that disappointment, you can't miss the warmth and jubilation on every corner from supporters of Mr.
Trump who they have come in the hundreds of thousands to make their way to D.C.
to celebrate his victory and inauguration.
President Elect Trump is about to begin what some thought would be out of reach, that is his second non consecutive term as President of the United States.
Let us begin by turning to some of our correspondents that are out in D.C.
this morning.
Let me begin with Neda Taufik, BBC North America correspondent at Capitol Hill.
Welcome to the program.
