Do you know the difference between do and make?
For example, we say do exercise, not make exercise.
We say make a mistake, not do a mistake.
In today's lesson, you'll learn 60 common expressions with do and make.
If you want to download a free PDF of this lesson, including example sentences for all the expressions,

First, let's consider the basic difference between do and make.
We tend to use do for actions, obligations, and repetitive tasks,
and we use make for creating or producing something, and for actions you choose to do.
Do generally refers to the action itself, and make usually refers to the result.
For example, if you make breakfast, the result is an omelet.
If you make a suggestion, you have created a recommendation.
With that in mind, let's look at these expressions, starting with do.
We often use do for housework, do the housework, do the laundry, do the dishes.
You could also say wash the dishes, and do the shopping.
