After 15 months of war in the Middle East, a chance of peace.
As we're recording this, a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas is in sight.
The deal would see some of the hostages still held since October 7, 2023 swapped for Palestinians held in Israel's jails and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from parts of Gaza.
We're still waiting for the fine print, but after 15 months of fighting that has left so many dead and so much destroyed and a region shaken and redrawn, a pause, at least in the fighting is in prospect.
Behind the grand plans of politicians and diplomats and military commanders are the terrible losses in Israel, Gaza and Lebanon.
Men and women and children who have nothing to do with the high politics of the conflict, but have suffered grievously because of it.
So today, as so many hope for a deal that will quiet the guns, we're using this moment to take stock of what's been lost and whether anything has been gained after 466 days of war.
With me today is Hugo Boshega, the BBC Middle east correspondent based in Beirut.
