  • South Korea's anti corruption agency arrested President Yoon Suk Yeol on Wednesday morning, roughly five hours and 20 minutes after initiating efforts to execute a warrant.

  • Yoon becomes the country's first sitting president to be taken into custody.

  • The operation to arrest Yong began at approximately 5:10am when CIO investigators and police presented arrest and search warrants to Yong's legal team at the residence.

  • They then proceeded with the enforcement process.

  • In contrast to the first attempt to execute the arrest warrant on January 3, the Presidential Security service reportedly did not interfere with the warrant's execution this time.
