单集文稿 ...

  • Foreign hello and welcome to another special episode of My Perfect Console.

  • We're going to be listening to another selection of clips from the second year of the podcast, 2024.

  • We've had a range of guests from video game makers to comedians, broadcasters, journalists, composers and musicians, filmmakers.

  • And we're going to be hearing from some of those individuals.

  • I've been fortunate enough to speak to a range of guests this year who have experienced a lot of success in their creative and professional lives.

  • And I always find it interesting to ask what kind of impact success has on a person when it enters their life.

  • It can be quite disruptive, almost as disruptive as failure in some cases.

  • And of course, success often comes before and after failure.

  • So, yeah, the ebb and flow of a person's fortunes, I think, are quite interesting, particularly in regard to the creative life.

  • So in this section of clips, we're going to be hearing from some of those people who have experienced those things.

  • Firstly, Eric Barone, the creator of Stardew Valley, one of the most popular and, let's be honest, profitable indie games ever made.

  • Then we'll hear from Billy Basso, whose game Animal well did very well in 2024 and I'm sure is going to be nominated for numerous awards come awards season later in 2025.

  • Derek Yu, the creator of Spelunky, a game that certainly changed his life and paved the way for all of his projects that have followed.

  • Matt Feyre, who is has worked in the games industry for many decades, talking about a much older success back in the days of dial up Internet and how that changed his life.

  • And G.T.

  • carver, Greg Carver, the author of the Myrtle series of puzzle books on how becoming The Christmas number one in 2023 changed his life.

  • You know, you talked right at the start about viewing success like a challenge.

  • Yeah.

  • And I suppose, you know, sometimes success can just come in almost like a natural disaster to a person's life, like a very nice one.

  • But it is, it just changes everything.
