Hi there.
I'm Sumi Somaskanda from the BBC World Service.
This is the global story.
Americans are still trying to make sense of a deadly attack that brought terror and tragedy to the streets of New Orleans in the early hours of New Year's Day.
Joe Biden and Donald Trump have offered competing messages of leadership and, and defiance in response to the killings.
How could this shape the final days before the presidential transition?
And how is the exchange of power in Washington being viewed overseas?
As the countdown to Inauguration Day continues, let's map out the path to the presidency.
We gave Katrina a break this week, so joining me today is my fellow BBC chief presenter, Christian Fraser, who is in London.
Hi, Christian.
Hi, Sumi.
And here in Washington, Courtney subramanian from the BBC's digital team.
Hey, Courtney.
Hey, Sumi.
Thanks for having me.
How did you guys spend your New Year's ringing in the New Year?
Well, I had Christmas off and then they said coming to work for some easy shifts.
And then all hell broke loose in New Orleans, of course, some tragic circumstances there.
And so we were rolling all the way through.
