Hello and welcome to Super Great Kids Stories.
Wise tales from storytellers around the world which will make you laugh and sometimes cry.
Recommended for ages 5 to 105. I'm Kim and I love stories.
This week our story is called Skylarks of Sussex.
Skylarks are beautiful small brown birds who have an awesome song.
The story is told by Xanthi Gresham, who is new to Super Great Kids stories.
Xanthi lives in Sussex on the south coast of the UK, and she's particularly fond of stories about plants and animals.
How are you this week, Super Great Kids?
I'm happy because I've been cat-sitting for my friends who live in the countryside.
My granddaughter Dorothy came too.
We spent lots of time playing with feathers and bubbles and pebbles.
I also got to swim in the sea.
It was Dorothy's very first trip to the beach.
Can you remember the first time you went to the beach?
I wonder if you built a sand castle or even a sand mermaid.
I'm also happy because I'm about to do some more travelling.
I'm catching a train which travels through a tunnel under the sea to another country called France.
And then the train goes on to another country called Belgium.
I'm going to get together with some friends from all over the world who I met when I was on an exchange
programme in a school in the United States when I was 16. School is a great place to meet new friends.
