  you're laughing at something on the TV and all of a sudden you hear a knock at the door.

  It startles you.

  Huh, that's odd.

  I'm not expecting anyone.

  It's Sunday afternoon.

  You like how I'm telling this like I'm an author?

  Something like it matters what the heck you're thinking when you're sitting on your couch and someone comes to your door for the thought experiment.

  You answer the door and standing before you is a disgruntled looking man,
