Hi, it's Eve here and welcome to Radio Headspace and to Wednesday.
I was chatting to a good friend the other day.
She's a life and business coach,
and we were discussing how easy it can be sometimes to put yourself down.
And the conversation came about as we were discussing how much had changed since we first met.
So we both used to work in advertising,
and neither one of us ever thought we would end up doing the work that we do now.
I, like a lot of folks, am my own worst critic.
and can often be quite hard on myself.
Even after years of practicing meditation, this is something I have to work on.
I'm in the middle of quite an intensive training program,
and I was only focusing on what I still had to learn, not on what I actually had learned.
And it was causing a lot of tension.
And my friend could see that I was struggling a little bit, and she asked me the following question.
What would you tell your younger self about where you are and what you've achieved?
It took a few moments to gather my thoughts on this and to turn down the self-criticism and not to feel a little silly in answering it.
But I decided to do it and said to my younger self,
you decided to leave advertising as it wasn't making you happy.
It took some time to figure that out and that's okay.
As there was a lot going on in your life that wasn't making you happy.
