Let's learn ten spelling differences between British English and American English, with lots of examples.

Our first difference is that many words ending in O-U-R in British English and in O-R in American English,
like color, flavor, honor, labor, neighbor, odor, rumor, saver, and valor.
Another one that's easy to note is words ending in R-E in British English versus E-R in American English.
We have center, fiber, liter, meter, meager, specter, and theater.
Words ending in I-S-E in British English often end in I-Z-E in American English,
like apologize, realize, recognize, organize, prioritize, criticize, specialize, and sympathize.
Similarly, British English has a few words ending in Y-S-E that are Y-Z-E in American English,
analyze, catalyze, and paralyze.
The words defense, offense, and pretense all end in E-N-C-E in British English, but E-N-S-E in American English.
There are also a few words where British English makes a spelling difference between the noun and verb forms,
whereas American English does not.
