  • Islamis led Syrian rebels have lit a fire which now seems to be spreading throughout the country.

  • The main rebel offensive continues to be north, south, and their lightning advance begun this week has so far led to the capture of Aleppo, with the rebels now reported to be just kilometres away from the country's third biggest city, Homs.

  • This is the sound of a convoy of rebel forces driving through Tirmeal, just to the north of the city.

  • Elsewhere, Kurdish led forces say they've taken the city of Deir EZ Zua, the government's main foothold in the east of the country, while in the southwest in the town of Zwerda, there have been clashes between Dru's militia and the security forces and reports of violence in the town of Durra.

  • Government forces have so far offered little or no resistance.

  • Tens of thousands of people have been fleeing Homs.
