Hello and welcome to Super Great Kids Stories,
Wise tales from storytellers around the world, which will make you laugh and sometimes cry.
Recommended for ages 5 to 105.
I'm Kim and I love stories.
Hello, Super Great Kids and how are you?
I'm very happy
because it's the month of June and I've been enjoying choosing stories for our Super Great book.
The theme is birds and nature and the story this week is all about a little half chick who was small but quite strong and a bit proud.
It comes from Spain and it's told by Rebecca Lemaire.
Rebecca plays lots of musical instruments and today she's playing the thumb drum or thumb piano,
which is an African instrument, and the castanets or castanuelas,
which are used a lot in Spanish music.
Now, just before we hear from Rebecca, I wonder if you could have a little think.
My friend Alison was telling me recently that she really likes the very first story she ever heard on Super Great Kids Stories.
Hers was Butterball, the Norwegian fairy tale about a boy who's tricked by a troll,
which is told by Emily Hennessey.
Alison heard that story and she was hooked, so she particularly likes that tale.
Can you remember the very first tale you heard on Super Great Kids Stories?
Or if this is your very first time listening?
Well done.
