Hello Super Great Kids and how are you?
Have you been able to do some swimming or splashing in water this summer?
Maybe in a paddling pool or a swimming pool or even in the sea.
Always best to swim with a grown-up watching whenever you swim.
I went swimming in my friend's pond for the first time this week.
It was sparkling and beautiful and exciting because neither of us had ever swum there before.
I also went swimming in the North Sea which was disappointingly warm
because I prefer it when it's really really cold.
But hey it was a double swim weekend.
Hurrah!
The world is there waiting and it's full of adventures.
This week for our last water themed story we go to the Irish Sea for a selkie tale told by storyteller Jill Brownson.
I wonder if you know what a selkie is.
Selkies are creatures in folktales which usually live in the sea and take the shape of beautiful seal but they can turn into a human simply by coming out of the sea and taking off their seal skin.
When they're seals they live in the sea and when they're humans they walk on land.
The word selkie comes from the old Scottish word for seal.
