Hello and welcome to Super Great Kids Stories.
Wise tales from storytellers around the world which will make you laugh and sometimes cry.
Recommended for ages five to 105.
I'm Kim and I love stories.
Hello Super Great Kids and how are you?
I'm very happy because it's feeling very much like autumn here or fall as some people call it.
The leaves are beginning to change colour and the mornings are getting a little bit nippy.
I had to look in our cupboard under the stairs for my gloves this weekend and we lit the first fire of the season last night and when people sit around fires they often start telling stories or sometimes they fall asleep particularly
if they're a dog.
This week we have a story from North America which explains how the Cherokee people say
that the very first fire got onto the earth.
The storyteller is Lisa LaRue Baker who lives in Kansas in the US.
Lisa told you the story about the corn door and that story explaining how Rabbit got his strong back legs.
Another reason to be cheerful this week is that I got to meet one of our fans who lives in India.
Her name is Leona.
She's six and a half and lives in a Sam and she got up in the middle of the night to watch our most recent online show with Kate Corkery.
It's exciting for us to meet people like you who enjoy these stories as much as we do.
Since our theme is animal stories just before we hear from Lisa here's a riddle for you.
Can you guess which animal this is?
I swoop in the night with eyes that shine bright and I live in hollow trees.
