I'm Jack Stewart.
And this week we've come to Japan to look at new ideas about volcanoes,
earthquakes and other geological processes.
Things that happen deep within our Earth but occasionally make themselves violently obvious.
Now, there's a couple of reasons we're here.
Japan, of course, is a hotspot for geological activity.
On average, there are three earthquakes a day that are strong enough to be felt.
And the country has 110 active volcanoes that are being monitored,
which, to me, was just incredible to learn.
But when you think about it, Mt.
Fuji, the iconic symbol of Japan, is itself a volcano.
