Now, what I want to talk to you about tonight is why positive thinkers get positive results.
And they do, too.
That's for sure.
Pastor Norman Vincent Peel officiated Donald Trump's first marriage.
But that's not his biggest claimed fame.
Take charge of your thoughts.
You can do what you will.
Peele is famous for his 1952 book, The Power of Positive Thinking.
Peele was one of the first to argue for the power of positive thought.
The idea that
if you get rid of your negativity and crush all your worries about the obstacles in your path,
then things will work out just the way you hoped they would.
The concept was simple and really appealing.
Simply visualize a great job or the perfect marriage and it'll happen.
You think positively in order to send out positive emanations to reproduce themselves in kind,
in positive results.
But, Peele says, if you think about the pitfalls you could meet along the way, then they'll appear.
You'll be punished for your pessimism.
You can destroy yourself, or you can create yourself by the manner and quality of your thoughts.
