  • I'm Julian Marshall, and we begin today in Amsterdam, the scene last night of violent attacks on supporters of the Israeli team Maccabee Tel Aviv after their match against Ajax Amsterdam.

  • In the city, young men clad in black roamed the streets on foot and on scooters, attacking Israeli supporters.

  • Five of them were hospitalized, and more than 60 people so far unidentified, have been arrested.

  • These people on the streets of Amsterdam spoke of their shock, with some suggesting holding the match was a bad idea, others that the attacks were premeditated.

  • There's a lot of people that they are not Ajax supporters.

  • They are not related to this.

  • They were ready in exactly in the places, strategic places, with bats, with knives and everything.

  • So it was well organized, and it's people from certain age.

  • So it's not spontaneous that suddenly, you know, you see a flag and you get excited about it.

  • I think it has been a mistake to invite a football club that is part of a country that is.

  • That is actively engaging in war crimes at the moment.
